THE ADDISON HOUSE STAGE SYSTEM

The Program at Addison House is based on a system of four stages: Immersion, Expansion, Self-Determination, and Integration. Each stage builds on the previous. A Resident who completes our stage system has acquired the necessary tools and focus to live successfully and confidently on his own while maintaining sobriety. All four stages emphasize healthy attachments both in Addison House and within the local recovery community. This series of stages is a clearly defined and accountable route for staff to ensure that our Residents get the most out of their experience at Addison House.

Resident Support Manager

The key point of contact for a resident at Addison House is his Resident Support Manager. This staff member guides the Resident from one stage to the next. The resident manager meets with the Resident at least once a week, helping him navigate the often-challenging terrain of early recovery. The resident manager coordinates with all the staff as well as the Resident’s treatment team to ensure that each Resident receives appropriate, coordinated support. The resident manager is also the key point of contact with families and loved ones.

Located right outside of downtown Delray Beach.

Our centrally located homes are all within walking distance of several 12 Step Meetings, public transportation, supermarkets, and the beach.

Stage I - Immersion

In the initial stage we focus on helping our resident become accustomed to the Addison House environment. He is expected to obtain a sponsor and begin attending Twelve Step meetings on a daily basis, as well to become established in an ongoing treatment venue as delineated by his discharge plan. Settling into a healthy daily routine helps the new resident become part of the Addison House community. Specified requirements must be fulfilled at this stage, such as completing assigned chores, developing a Daily Action Plan and building a network of sober supports.

Stage II – Expansion

During the Expansion stage, some key goals include securing a "recovery" job (25 to 30 hours a week), and learning to live within a devised budget. Support is provided as needed for resume creation, job search, job interview preparation, and budgeting. Before advancing to Stage III, the resident will have developed positive relationships outside of the Addison House community and will have completed the Third Step with his sponsor.

Stage III – Self-Determination

In this stage, a resident is encouraged to envision life beyond Addison House. Key life goals are identified and initial actions are taken in areas such as education and career. Benchmarks include full-time employment and opening a bank account. Many residents at the Self-Determination stage will be leaders in the Addison House community, and expand service commitments in their Twelve Step community. The resident is expected to complete the Fourth and Fifth Steps with his sponsor and comfortably manage his own daily schedule.

Stage IV – Integration

In the Integration Stage, the resident will create and execute his Exit Plan. He is expected to deepen his participation in the greater recovery community with a robust network of sober support, service, and fellowship. His resident manager guides him as he further develops the realistic, and sustainable strategies of an independent life. The resident typically has completed his Eighth Step by this time. The Integration stage is complete when the resident has all the necessary resources and skills in place to live independently and maintain fulfilling long-term recovery.
